About
Behind Our St. Martin Hotel
Love, Family, and Friendship
Simple and sublime, our lush gardens and sweeping views of the sea create the backdrop for an unparalleled St. Martin Hotel experience delivered by friends you’ll look forward to visiting time and again.
How It All
Started
Hotel L’Esplanade opened its doors in 1992, the crowning achievement of the Petrelluzzi family’s decades of developing commercial properties. From the beginning, our family-owned and operated boutique resort was designed to be an island retreat that felt like staying at one of your own vacation homes — but without any of the work. In 2000, Marc Petrelluzzi and his wife Kristin took the reins and made thoughtful enhancements as the years progressed, adding a full-service spa exclusively for guests and a yoga studio that offers complimentary classes seven days a week. It’s all part of a family recipe for premier hospitality, and they’re delighted to share it with you.

No Ruff Days
A Nose for Hospitality
Meet Jack the Dog. A common sight around the hotel, he’s a mix of friendly local and brand ambassador. He’s living proof that a no-ruff-days philosophy can make a dog’s life the one you aspire to live. All our guests know him and have made him a minor St. Martin celebrity.
By the Beach
Take a look at our sister property just a mile down the road, right on the sand facing Grand Case Bay. Like a true sibling, Le Petit Hotel is dramatically different, with its effortlessly casual beach vibe and pared-down approach. And yet, its comfortable, indulgent amenities and authentically warm service are a testament to our shared vision: Two Experiences, One Friendly Island.

Check the schedule that is posted in the reception and show up 15 minutes before class starts to ensure a good spot. We have complimentary mats and props.
What is the best room type for a family?
The one bedroom suite is nice because the bedroom is behind a closed door. The advantage to the loft rooms is they offer 1 & 1/2 baths. If the children are older, we really recommend two rooms next to each other. Our loft rooms and suites have queen pull out sofas but they are best suited for young children.

Peak season 7:30am - 9pm, after 9pm the phone gets forwarded to the manager, please dial 9 from your room. There is overnight security. Please try and take care of your needs prior to 9pm. During our quiet season we close the office at 7:30pm.

Why don’t you have a full service restaurant at the hotel?
We are located within walking distance of "Restaurant Row” and every room has a full kitchen.
Is the little Grand Case airport an issue for noise?
Most guests like watching the little puddle jumpers come in and out. The small planes service our neighboring French islands and aren’t allowed to take off and land before sunrise and after sundown, apart from emergencies.
